Favorite independent film?

Asked by natepilling (135points) December 29th, 2008

Lately I’ve been looking for good indie films (long or short form). I’ve found a few good ones but I’m always looking for more. Any suggestions?

The Tao of Steve is pretty hilarious and surprisingly well-written. Everyone I’ve shown it to has enjoyed it.

One of my favorite indie films is a sweet little movie called “Pizza”. It’s pretty entertainig and would probably go under the Juno comedy kind of genre. You can watch the preview and rent it on iTunes if you like it.

The Squid and the Whale, Rocket Science, Lonesome Jim, The Thin Blue Line, Kill The Poor, Transamerica, those are pretty good.

EDIT:Spun and Trainspotting as well.

I don’t think Life as a House counts, but it freaking should. Watch it.

“The Fourth Man” is the only one I can think of right now (pre-Hollywood Verhoeven). I watch all types of movies, and don’t always notice whether they’re “independent” or not. Saw a few good Polish ones recently, such as “Edi”.
