Congestive Heart Failure can be very serious or mild…and everywhere in between. Every case is different. Hopefully your relative is under the care of a good Dr. and will follow their instructions. I do suggest you search online as there are multiple sources for tremendous amounts of information. The American Heart Associations website is good place to start.

It’s not good.

it’s not good. There must be levels of severity within the one description. My Dad had congestive heart failure several times after his first heart attack and he was in and out of hospitals for several months.

Your relative is wrong. It is lethal! Of course treated aggressively, it can be held in check, but it is very serious.

You can live a long time with CHF. Next to the last stage is when you become out of breath just from walking across a room. The last stage is when you’re breathless simply sitting in a chair.
My friend’s sister, 76, had heart bypass 4 years ago; she is very obese, too. Although diagnosed with CHF, she is walking and driving, huffing and puffing but still making new friends and does some grocery shopping!
