What can be used outside to prevent my dog from chewing up the outside of her food and water bowls? Is it safe to mix hot sauce with a waterproof paint? I need the hot sauce to withstand rain and wind?

Why not choose to NOT torture or cause pain to your beloved(?) pet and just buy metal bowls?!? Why was your first solution to hurt your dog?

I would definitely not recommend hot sauce—that’s how people train violence into their animals and your dog will start to associate his food bowl with pain. If you really want to discourage chewing, use a vet approved spray like Bitter Apples—don’t create your own. http://thepuppyshop.com/bitterapples.html

Heavy ceramic, or metal bowls please.

Hot sauce mixed with paint (moreover) would not taste like hot sauce. It would taste
like paint. Paint is a really, really bad idea anyway, because it’s poison.
