What are your top three favorite techno/electronic songs?

Asked by rawrgrr (1568points) September 4th, 2009 from iPhone

Were organizing a party and we need some good techno songs. I don’t need you whole library, just your top three. Thanks.

Slam – Pendulum
Vordhosbn – Aphex Twim (it’s somewhat mellow though)
Yell “Dead Cell” – Metal Gear Solid 2 soundtrack

Do you mean to say that there are people who actually like that style of “music”? I thought that it was like Vogon poetry – designed purely for the purpose of torturing people.

@DarkScribe Why not say what you’re really thinking?

@rawrgrr I still like adagio for strings, music’s hypnotising – aphrodite, and one other the name i can’t remember.. i know they are old but i still like em

I would, but I don’t want to frighten the children.

Honestly I have way more than three, so here are some of my favorites.

Physical Overdrive – Johan Gielen
Float Away – Robbie Rivera
Be Still – Kaskade
Ameno – DJ Mystik which is on his Crystal Skies album, and honestly the whole album is freakin’ amazing. The cool thing is that all the songs pretty much go along with each other, but they’re completely different.
Like An Angel – DJ Mystik

Generally I hate electronica/techno/trance/electronica, but a few stick out every now and then. If I have to pick 3:

#1
#2
#3, not to be confused with this godawful cover version,

and of course, honorable mention.

oh, and btw, digging on the Hitchhiker’s Guide reference.

Phantom Part 2(live)-Justice
Seventeen Years-Ratatat
Hidden Hand Hidden Fist- Sound Tribe Sector Nine
Zombie Jig-Benga

i really hate when people mistake the shit techno they often hear on the radio/tv for what electronic music really is.

The Summer Of ‘98 by The Secret Handshake
Your Destined Door by The Drifter I Am
Hello Seattle by Owl City

Hahaha I’m not sure if those are the types of songs you were thinking about, but they’re close :]

Okay so here are 3 good tracks very lazily mixed by me for you to listen to or download and play at your leisure. I guess they would all sit in the progressive house sub-genre

Track1: Flaming June (BT & PVD Original Mix) – BT
Track2: Embracing The Sunshine (Sasha’s Remix) – BT
Track3: I Need You (Option A 12”) – Pendulum

2:All I ever wanted by Basshunter
3:When love takes over by David Guetta

@irocktheworld I hope that was a joke but I fear it wasn’t

I agree with @uberbatman: anything by Ratatat.

And of course Daft Punk.

chelseababyy's avatar

@PerryDolia Did you really just say Frou Frou? It’s not techno or electronic.

El_Cadejo's avatar

yeaaaa frou frou is good shit, but really not considered electronic.

chelseababyy's avatar

@uberbatman Yeah that’s what I was thinking. It’s more chillout/ambient. They do kind of fit into an “electronic” category, but it’s not what this person asking the question was looking for in terms of like, techno electronic.
