Found a racy image online that looks like my friend, what do I do?

Asked by gottamakeart (1323points) September 20th, 2009

A nude website (it claims to be artistic) I’ve been browsing happened to have a photo that looks way too much like a friend of mine (..and way more than I’ve ever seen (!) Do I tell this friend about it? Also, if there is no contact info on the website, how would this friend ask that the image be removed if it was without their knowledge or consent?

I would defiinitely tell your friend. It is possible the image was put up without consent.

I would tell your friend, and then your friend would have to try to get to whoever hosts the site in order to track them down.

Why (or rather, HOW) would she pose nude for photographs without knowing that she was being photographed?
In the photos, is she laying there limp and lifeless?
Does it look like the photo was taken from a treelimb outside of her bedroom?
I totally think posting the pix would explain it to me…

Well, I once went to a strip club years ago and one of the dancers was an exact image of my younger sister. I’d never seen my grown sister naked, thank Evelyn but the body size was correct and her face was EXACTLY the same. The only difference was there was no ‘recognition’ in the strippers’ eyes.

Could be this person posing nude is just someone that looks like your friend. I’ve seen people that are exact doppelgangers to other people I know, but were not even related.

It can also be that a now-estranged boyfriend or girlfriend talked your friend into taking some private shots that they then posted online to get “revenge.”

@evelyns_pet_zebra it was your sister, she even had the same stripes :P
I doubt she’d show it if it was her, would she?

As for the original question: what type of photos are these? Does it look as if your friend possibly posed for them willingly? Maybe for money or for an ex bf/gf who later posted them online or sold them?

Yes, I also have naked pictures from a couple of my exes but posting them would be way below the belt. I might consider it for one particular ex who has been extremely evil, but generally I avoid revenge (and even if I were to get revenge, it wouldn’t be of that kind).

lrn2 appreciate the human body

Take care of business, then tease her and make her buy you beers.

@Jack79 I highly doubt it, my sister is a fundamentalist Christian who thinks sex is a dirty and sinful thing. She probably only lets her husband touch her through a sheet with a hole in it.

If it really is her, I’m sure she’s well aware.

It might not be your friend…maybe you can link a picture of your friend, and then the photo that is in question?

haha, I thought so… and thank you.

My husband’s best friend, in college, knew a photographer. The photographer wanted to take photos of the friend to help him get into the modeling business. After taking countless revealing photos, nothing happened. Years later, my husband stumbled on the photos online. We laughed our butts off and still tease him. He had never given the photographer permission to use them, didn’t know they were online, and was completely horrified. I can’t remember what the website was, but the photos were actually used in a “before” and “after” sequence, with the “before” being a completely different person. We printed the photos, secretly gave them to our waitress at a bar, and had her ask our friend for his autograph. We laughed some more.

Give your friend the web address and have him/her check it out. Then let it go. Leave it up to your friend to choose whether or not to fill you in on the story, and don’t be evil like we were. ;)

I do nude (artful) photography, and there is a big difference between taking the pictures and the model giving permission to publish.

Tell her, it is only fair she know.

gottamakeart's avatar

from previous conversations I’ve had with this friend, HE is not a prude (and neither am I) but he has not modelled before. So this is most likely an intimate personal photo that has been leaked onto the ‘net as a revenge photo. I now have the delicate task of breaking the news. Hopefully it won’t be too much of a shock.

Thank You for the encouraging responses.

oh…never mind on the photo then… heh

Hopefully he takes it okay.

Totally tell her. One time an ad on craigslist featured ME and my photo, and a paragraph about how I like big dildos in the ass. I sure didn’t put it up….

I would provide a link for my fluther friends.

Oh! Tell him. Yikes.

CMaz's avatar

Can you send us a link? Would like to see it.

update on situation: told him and he was actually amused.(!) He also figured pic had to be from almost 10 yrs ago- further inspiration for his plan to get in shape again.

As far as a link goes, I beleive only he can decide to show it off, or ask for it to be deleted.. otherwise its just another random nude on the internet.

( I wouldn’t go around showing off someone elses business if I wanted to stay friends.)

@gottamakeart eek gadd it’s a boy?!?!?!?!?

gottamakeart's avatar

@ ABoyNamedBoobs03

no, a MAN,(35 now) he was a man back then , is just an older one now. just not as “ripped” so the picture actually reminded him of how good he looked when he was taking better care of himself.

ABoyNamedBoobs03's avatar

eek gadd, it’s a man!

I should add, since I’m already sharing the experience, I kind of thought he was cute before, now I kinda blush whenever the though of that pic crosses my mind. But he’s open-minded enough that being “eye candy” isn’t really an issue.
