Is there a unique, fun, or cool kind of calendar that you get each year?

Asked by ubersiren (15208points) November 2nd, 2009

I’m looking for ideas for 2010. This year we had Buffy the Vampire Slayer, last year we had The Simpsons and a Jeopardy! tear-away calendar with a different clue each day. Also, every Christmas, I get my husband a Chik-fil-a calendar to use at work.

Not sure if they still make ‘em, but, I’ve always loved the Far Side tear-away calendars.

@lynneblundell : That’s so cute! Maybe I’ll get one of those for my side of the bedroom. ;)

@jmah: I do love the Far Side comics. I think they still make them, just with recycled cartoons.

I like getting children’s calendars. This year, it was My Little Pony, and last year, Snow White. I don’t know what one I will be getting for next year.

I get this St. Jude’s calendar every year. It’s for a good cause.

I love birds, so I get the Birds & Blooms calendar for hanging in the kitchen. It has beautiful pictures & big boxes to write in.

I always get sent he Sierra Club calendar because I am a member. Great pictures of nature and lots of room to write appointments on (for those of us who still “pencil things in.”)

I always get one from the Disabled Veterans of America Association. I send them $$$ for the veterans, and they send me a new calendar every year. Great deal, as both sides win.

My kids really enjoy the LEGO® Advent Calendar each year.

I buy the Sierra Club for the donation and the large blocks for writing, and I enjoy the one from my niece. It features many pictures of her two adorable sons and all the pertinent events in their lives.

I used to have a far side calendar… now i’m waiting for someone to make a “The Girls of Fluther” calendar… that one will sell like pancakes.

I typically go “fan girl” with my calendars—I’ve had a Spike calendar (reused several times), a Doctor Who calendar and a Torchwood calendar. I also like art calendars; a friend gave me a pop-up Egyptian art calendar once, and I also have used a “famous paintings of Japan” calendar in the past.

Next year…who knows. I might see if I can find another Torchwood calendar, or maybe another TV show, like Bones or NCIS.

@evegrimm both awesome shows… I would not mind looking at Emily Deschanel or Cote de Pablo on a daily basis.. in fact, i think i do anyway!

@Dr_C : Perhaps there should also be a boys of fluther! (or men, for those of use who are over 18).

Every year I get a wolf calendar, and one we get free from our electric company. This year I got a Maxine the Great for the kitchen. Last couple of years I got dragon calendars, but they got too expensive! Don’t know about this year.

JONESGH's avatar

@ubersiren I’ll volunteer for that :P

How about a calendar that shows a different kind of calendar every month?

erichw1504's avatar

Also, homemade ones with pictures of family are always neat to give or receive.

ubersiren's avatar

@erichw1504 : Yes, I agree! My husband made me one for our first anniversary, which is “paper.” We also made some for relatives for Christmas. They go over very well.
