What are your suggestions for a cruise wedding?

Asked by erichw1504 (26453points) November 13th, 2009

We’re thinking about doing a cruise wedding next year. Either getting married on or off the ship, then going on a mini cruise to somewhere with a few family members, then doing the honeymoon thing.

What are your experiences with cruise weddings? If you’ve been on one, what are some positives and negatives? What cruise line would be best for this? Are the prices fair? What should I include with the wedding? Where should the cruise takes us? Any other good ideas or plans?

A wedding on a cruise ship is cost prohibitive for most wedding guests especially in a down economy.

A cruise means days and days of enforced togetherness. It is not something I would choose for my wedding.

Also, cruises for honeymooners does not seem like a great idea either. How about honeymooning someplace you can’t fall off of, or if you do, drowning is not the result.

@Marina Yea, we would definitely not do a cruise honeymoon, especially since we just went on one last year. But, what if we just got married somewhere near the ship and then go on the cruise with a few people for only 3–4 days?

@erichw1504 That sounds like fun if you have a lot of family and friends that are big cruise fans. Also, go somewhere really interesting like Greece.

My suggestion is to invite me.

I’ve never been on a cruise before.

@AstroChuck has the right idea… I’ll go too! You might need a doctor because of the hangovers and motion sickness….

I would do it on a cruise ship.
