Is there a song that you think could have been written just for you?

Asked by NUNYA (3207points) December 28th, 2009

I am a music lover and listen to all types of music. But there are some songs out there that seem to be pointing directly towards my life. Like the singer had been living in my house the majority of my life. Do you know one or more songs that seem to have been written just for you? What is the name (s) of the song and the name (s) of the singer?

“The Loadout”, Jackson Browne, but that’s because I’ve loaded out a Jackson Browne concert. He didn’t play the song. I was bummed.

A Song for You by the Carpenters. I heard this song for the first time when I was in college and it’s been with me ever since. It sounds like my life being played back to me.

Well, I was named after a song – “Allison”, by Elvis Costello.

There’s a song called “Alison” that was written in the 1300s, which describes a girl that looks like me (short, blonde hair with dark eyebrows, grey eyes, even down to the big hips and small waist)

As far as songs that I feel tell my life story, most are instrumentals that just speak to me on some deep level. I usually name my D&D characters after them.

There is one song, called “Father of Mine” by Everclear, that brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. That is, literally, the story of my life – though it was my mother that walked out with us kids, instead of Daddy walking out on us, and Daddy never sent the birthday card the song mentioned… but the rest… yep.

There are 3 different songs with my name as the title. 1 from the 1930’s, one from the 1970’s and a German song. They are about someone who is totally NOT me.

I would say I am best described in “The Rose” because

Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun’s love, in the spring
Becomes the rose

Behind Blue Eyes by The Who. Pete Townsend says that when he was writing this song he thought it was about a friend of his, when he finished he realized it was about him.

Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys is my song! At least I like to say so. I use it for the ringtone on my cell phone. It’s cute to see the smiles I get when my phone rings .. I think a lot of people enjoy that song.

Cleanin Out My Closet by Eminem is probably the closest.

I rarely had serious issues with my mother (when she was actually there and not working), but the rest of the world mistreated me more than enough to make up for it.

Not a certain song, but a certain band for me. I have never come across a band who can sum up so much of what I feel. But it’s not in just one song. It is spread all over their music.

Take me home
For one day
Wherever home would be
All I Touched around burned
My fingerprints
Clarity has dried my throat
And I Can’t hum any more
Lullabies about us
Sky will keep my secrets crushed within the clouds

You…
You will go.

And I can’t see it flaming through your teary eyes
You…
You have promised

Only the memories will keep us half alive
I drift outside

Days will be
Just like before
As if we never met
I remain still and silent
Pretending
Stealing
Being the unpredictable

You…
You will go.

And I can see it flaming through your teary eyes
You have promised
Only the memories will keep us half alive

I drift Outside…
