Just for general outdoors work, like cutting ropes and such.

Sure. It’s a good knife, tough and durable for doing a lot of different jobs. There are a lot of good knives for that sort of work. Something like this might have more general utility since it has a drop point blade that is helpful when skinning game, a serrated section that is good for sawing through rope, and a comfortable lightweight handle.

Yes.

I personally recommend the Becker Tactool though. I have one and it is an excellent outdoors knife.

Only like knives made in Germany or Switzerland. if you are really desperate for a good knife that will last you forever…..go to WalMart and buy one of their bluelight special knives that are made in China. don’t you just hate everything in WalMart thats made in China?

The USMC and Army standard issue knives are excellent quality, hold an edge well and are pretty much indestructable. In the field, you should also carry a multi-function tool like a Leatherman. Nothing beats that big blade when you really need it though.
