New beginning….at least for me. I will be fifty in eleven years. All of my children will be grown and hopefully enjoying their own happy lives. My husband and I will be alone together. We have been raising a family since we were nineteen. At fifty we will have the freedom and financial ability to travel. He is my best friend, and I am looking forward to growing old with him.

I’m afraid I’m a pessimist. As I age (44), I feel limited by the ever increasing number of physical problems and limitations that I am developing. I feel limited in my options for the future -those things that I’ve dreamed of doing seem irresponsible in light of the fact that I need to be financially prepared for the future.

Ugh, I’m such a downer.

Ok, the flip side is that I am more confident and independent than I have ever been. I have a varied list of experiences to draw on and I’ve done some amazing things in my life. I plan to continue in that vein.

I’m 42 now, and staying at a Mission in Chattanooga.
I do not want to do this at 50.

It would depend on what my life looked like at 50. The older you get, the harder it is to change direction, because of the accumulated momentum and responsibility.

it would depend on where I am at in my life. If I had lived a great 50 and accomplished alot of the things that I wanted to and had a loving family then yes my life would be a new beginning but if I feel empty and things are missing then it might be considered half over.

I think turning 50 was easier than 40. The kids are older and there is more free time to enjoy life plus more $ to do things too. I am thinking positive that whatever time I have left will be good.
