Do you notice that time is going much faster than ever to the point where you wonder if something weird is going on?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) May 25th, 2010

I mean if you feel that the actual day as we have known it has changed, shrunk somehow. I really cannot believe how a week goes by nowadays! Do any of you notice that or do you see time passing as it always has?

The clock moves fast somedays and slow other days! Never have figured out why! If I have something to do, will always monitor how time is moving that morning…if it is a fast clock, i need to know that! do not like to be late for anything!

Also, always thought older people were “full of bull,” when they would say, “as you get older, the clock moves much faster!” Now, I know they were right!

@BoBo1946 -Yup. I started feeling that shift ~28.

You’re so right, and the older you get—the faster time goes. I don’t know how I ever had time to get things done before! I’m always behind now, trying to get caught up on normal everyday things.

Time moved slowly for me when I was in pain every day. If time is moving quickly I think that generally means things are good. Trick is, take a moment to pause when you feel happiness, when you are with the people you love, when you have a good feeling about something you have accomplished. Time can suspend itself for a moment, if you let it.

@JLeslie very true…like a great vacation! Over in a “blink of the eye!”

Time flies the most when I visit a dear friend and stone cold stops when the MIL stops by.

What do you mean “wonder if” something weird is going on? Weirder stuff is happening every day. Getting weirder at an increasing rate, in other words. We’re approaching a weird horizon.

@CyanoticWasp my computer is acting weird does that mean I am fast approaching weird Singularity??

Dude, you’re already there; we’re weirding to catch up.

Oh hell; the librarian ladies are gonna be on me again. I just verbed an adjective.

@CyanoticWasp It’s all my fault…everyone I meet gets the evil eye from the librarians….run….run away!!!

The speed of the passage of time depends on your reference points.
My days of pushing carts felt interminable while I was working, and they’d all run together in my mind. I changed departments a little while back, and the days go by much more quickly because my work now consists of very different yet concatenated tasks. The days still run together, though.
The weeks rushing past indicate that you do the same thing an awful lot; you might consider taking a vacation in the near future. I recommend tourism. Southern Europe if you can manage it, because Italy is awesome.
Don’t go in the summer. It’ll be hot and muggy and there will be ten billion other tourists.
