Fishing. For compliments.

Before the crash that disabled me I used to carve sculptures of wildlife out of stone.

I am a major fan of steam locomotives and I photograph them wherever I find them.

I am also an enthusiastic landscape photographer.

BDSM? Roleplaying as sexy British vampires? Filling out surveys? Blowing stuff up? Jumping out of trees with a knife? Watching anime?

Ummmm…. let’s just say I have taken liberty with what is acceptable to do while at work.

I collect porn videos.
I also like to explore and find places I’ve seen on yelp.com (record stores, restaurants, etc). I used to do it a lot because I get out earlier in school and I still had some free rides left in my student metrocard (it’s basically a bus pass for students in NYC)

I collect air conditioners

I collect polar bear ceramic figurines, stuffed animals, calendars, etc.

I have a fascination/interest in chandeliers.

I try to force slugs to have sex.

I’m also a screenwriter, which isn’t necessarily unusual, but for my age and gender it’s rather uncommon.

Oh yeah, and then there’s that whole spatula thing…

I collect fetishes. I’m asexual, so I am fascinated to find myself surrounded on all sides by a seething ocean of non-stop sexuality. Over the years my interests have narrowed to the fringes of the fringe fetishes, generally those that are least plausible and often physically impossible. Finding new fetish communities online is a hobby I’ve enjoyed for 15 years so far, and it borders sometimes on obsession.

For those who are curious. my favourite finds so far have been:

Macrophilia & microphilia: Sexual fantasies involving giants and giantesses, or shrinking.

Vore: Sexual fantasies involving being swallowed alive or swallowing someone alive (often, for obvious reasons, combined with macro- and microphilia).

Flatphilia: Sexual fantasies involving magically flattened or magically flattening someone like a living blanket, still able to sense and feel, but physically helpless.

Living statue: Sexual fantasies involving transforming someone into (or being) a hard, rigid statue, a robot, an unmoving object, or a mannequin.

Stuck: Sexual fantasies involving being “stuck,” both literally and figuratively. So, for example, there are webpages devoted to pictures of people with their feet adhered to the floor with glue. But the sexual fantasy can also be less literal, since it can involve, say, a woman “stuck” by the side of a road with a flat tire and no spare.

I get funny looks merely for my interest in (pen and paper) RPGs.
Sure, RPGs are more mainstream now… as long as they are on a PC or console. But something about character sheets and dice seems to make people look at me like I have three heads.

Aside from that, I am actually pretty normal.

I am totally into squids, of the giant and colossal variety. I even read about them in my free time.

gemiwing's avatar

@Vunessuh Slug sex is so worth it. I mean, the slugs not me and the slugs.

I collect ViewMaster reels and gear. I dabble in amateur meteorology.

Jude's avatar

@IBERnineD I love octopus.

Berserker's avatar

@HungryGuy wins this whole thing.

I collect empty bread bags. Denno what Imma do with em, but I got lots.

Otherwise, my hobbies, if thou shalt, are pretty normal, reading, video games, movies, all horror.

mrentropy's avatar

At what point does collecting turn into hoarding?

Berserker's avatar

Leave my breadbags alone.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

@Symbeline I seem to have accumulated a similar collection. I love to bake my own homemade bread but rather bake more than eight loaves at one time, yet my accumulated collection far exceeds my requirements.

Listening to classical music, creating my own language, reading about other languages, taking pictures of flowers, writing fictional horror stories…the list goes on…

I have a massive grape vine that I weave shoulder bags out of the grape vines…most people do Xmas wreathes. I find the bags more useful for shopping and going to the library.

I like to burn everything I cook ;)

on-line social internet sites like fluther are a strange concept for most of my friends…..

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Storm chasing. I’m afraid of my own shadow, normally (huge scaredy cat).. but put me out in the middle of nowhere face to face with a tornado and I’m a happy camper.

I collect old radios…one of my favorites is a Tesla.

Fabric…vintage to new. It needs to have a feel about it. Some level of sensuality. Barkcloth, rich brocades…silks…I’d like to think that I don’t hoard it…but, I can’t imagine getting around to using all of it.

Stained glass, though that is coming to an end. No more windows!

Berserker's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille Lmao. That was brilliant. I do it too. The answer to such problems is pizza delivery! :)

I make leather bondage gear as gifts for friends in the kink. I also have a collection of old radios; my favorite is a cabinet floor model late 1930s Hallicrafter “9 valve superheterodyne”, the shortwave bands all marked with the names of cities (still works, too).

syz's avatar

I rock climb. My family thinks I’m nuts.

HungryGuy's avatar

@Symbeline – I turn most of them off at night when I go to bed (just run one in my bedroom and one in the living room during the night), but I just got up and they’re all buzzing right now, keeping my house a frigid 60F.

Wether I’m reading a book or from a magazine, I take out a pen or pencil I have with me and write down certain volcabulary that I have never heard of such as words like “enthrall”,”“phrotistery”,etc and don’t mean to put in race into it but some(a ceratan race) find me wierd and considered “not black” just because I want to learn new volcabulary. But here’s some other things I do that I think that’s wierd:like say if there is a freshly unused new book, when I was younger it was sort of a habit but only a few times I like to smell the scent of it,but I only do it in front of my friends. lol

PandoraBoxx's avatar

@Dr_Lawrence, can you sell off the excess loaves. Or don’t you knead the dough?

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

@PandoraBoxx There is no such thing as excess loaves of my homemade bread!
I don’t knead the dough much by hand as I have a huge Kitchen-aid mixer. Do I need need dough? Yes!
