Jeruba’s story

9/19/2021: The users who relish conflict seem to have departed, for the most part. I am enjoying the relative quiet and feel more like coming around, although still a bit cautious.

======================

5/3/2021: Taking some time out now on account of an aversion to conflict. I’ll be back presently, I expect.

======================

3/15/2020: I’ve missed this community a lot during the past year. Right now I think we can do some things to help each other during the present international health crisis. So I’d like to stick around now, but we’ll see.

======================

4/14/2019: Giving myself a two-week time-out while I get over a bout of irritable posting syndrome. I’ll return when I’m fit for civil discourse once again.

======================

That’s not me. ==>

That’s Cate Blanchett. I’ve just played with her image a lot. I think she’d enjoy my improvisations if she ever happened to see them. Even the one with the turkey on her head and especially the one with the jellyfish.

=====

Signing in on this date (Oct. 8, 2015) to express my support for gailcalled. Not sure if I’ll be back; thinking about it.

=====

On hiatus from Nov. 20, 2013.

Stopping in on March 1st, 2014, to wish Auggie the best. Fluther’s never had a better friend.

It’s going to be a long while before I log in again. The only messages I can see from outside are public ones.

Be well, jelllies.

My Avatar

My avatar images are photos of actress Cate Blanchett, usually altered in some way. She does not, for instance, wear a jellyfish on her head, or a turkey, or a basket of spring flowers. I like to think that if she were ever to see the way I’ve toyed with her photos, she would laugh.

When I joined in 2008, I didn’t expect to stay. My name and avatar choices were made quickly and with little thought. I chose Cate Blanchett’s image as my avatar because of her film role as Queen Elizabeth I; that’s what came up when I googled “warrior queen.” “Jeruba” is an imaginary character I played in an ancient RPG a long time ago. However, Cate’s images as Elizabeth are grim-looking; I prefer a smile. So I started to branch out.

I never really intended to assume the face of a glamorous actress who does not resemble me, but there it is.

On hiatus 4/14/2019 to 3/15/2020.
On hiatus 11/20/2013 to 10/8/2015. I came back for Gail.
On hiatus 6/2/2012 to 8/2/2012.
On hiatus 11/4/2011 to 12/14/2011.
