In names like Ben-Judah, what does the ben mean?

In the name Ben-judah what does the ben mean?

What @CaptainHarley said. Same as in Muslim names, (i.e. ibn-blank).

It could also be Bar-Judah, which means the same as Ben-Judah: Son of Judah.

Yup. “ben” is “son” in Hebrew. My Hebrew name is Benyamin ben Yisroel. My dad’s name was Yisroel ben Yitzhak.

FYI, “bat” is “daughter” in Hebrew.

@janbb Heh! That’s funny how that works. People who know me from wis.dm all know me as a male as I went by “Benny” which is short for Benjamin, which is my Hebrew name. I had a “Benny” on this site as well, but I deleted that account.
