How do you pronounce the word "macabre"?

I believe it is pronounced like MACK-A-BRAY.

As close to the French as I can make it with my English-speaking mouth.

Technically, it’s pronounced /makabʁ/. A lot of people find that subtle final “r” sound to be hard to make, but that’s how I always pronounce it.

@DominicX I found it impossible to explain the French uvular fricative /ʁ/ to a friend of mine who was having trouble pronouncing “rien”. I can make the sound, but I cannot for the life of me instruct others on how to mimic it.
