Are the early 90's neon colored bike short in style underneath running shorts?

I noticed this style a lot by females at shopping stores but with mostly the basic colors like white & black and a few other neon colors like yellow and purple.

Women: do you find yourself in this style? whether your lounging around in your home, going out to the grocery store or going out to the gym or should longer running shorts be worn over them?

I’m not a fashion expert, but the white and black bike shorts have always been popular colors to wear underneath loose running shorts by men/women worn by active people. As for the neon colors, I don’t know if women find them stylish, men on the other hand, the Agassi days are over lol, as the neon colors are a blast from the past and were left on the past.

@skillcapes7, Thanks for sharing! That style went well with Agassi in those years. But I agree, men in this decade should stay with the basic colors, white and black, not the neon colors, they would look throwed-off.

Don’t people wear them to keep from the cotton shorts sticking to the southern regions and wear the cotton ones on top because they don’t want to show off skin tight shorts?

@judochop, Thanks for sharing! Not all, active women do not wear the cotton shorts over the bike short. I’m in decent shape and either way I’ll still prefer the cotton shorts over them. As for men, I don’t think men would want to show skin tight shorts, unless they run triathlons or look like Agassi then yes because it would be a turn-off if they weren’t. So what’s your answer to the question, what do you think about the neon colored bike short?

well, I ride bike, often. Sometimes I could care less of fashion and go with function. Function being skin tight, padded shorts and shirts. Cuts on drag and helps me stay warm when I need it and wicks away the sweat as I begin to get hot. Neon colored or not, you will look like a moron either way but sometimes no one (nor I) should care.

@judochop, Hey, I ride my Cannondale mountain bike on weekends but I do care about fashion and there is no way I’ll be convinced about the neon bike shorts. I was curious to ask since I had noticed that fashion trend in shopping stores, gym’s, parks and I’d say the style looks moronic, maybe not to others or especially back in the 90’s, as neon colors were very popular to wear in those years. The only neon colored clothing I wear are Pearl Izumi neon yellow vests, jackets with reflecting tape that are visible when cycling at night. That is as far as I go with neon since I wouldn’t want to be a part of the past. :)
