Totally random, but does anyone know of a high-quality, English-speaking Podiatrist in Hong Kong?

Asked by JonnyCeltics (2721points) November 10th, 2010

I have a friend who lives in the deepness of China and his foot is having some serious issues. He has seen many doctors in the mainland, and has since been advised to travel to HK and get it checked out. I am tapping the Fluther collective to perhaps see if there are any connections to be made.

This one is really hard. Hong Kong is actually one of the hubs, one of the prime destinations for medical tourism. You can find quality, lower cost health care from many English speaking doctors there but people generally engage in “medical tourism” to really save money on dental work or plastic surgery or other types of elective surgery, etc. or for treatment that might otherwise bankrupt them in a place like the U.S., for cancer, something like that. I wouldn’t even know where to begin to find an high-quality, English-speaking podiatrist in Hong Kong. It’s just not the kind of medical people generally go there for, I don’t think. I’m sure there are some good ones, though. It’s a big place. Good luck.

Here are a number of Podiatrists listed on the International Podiatrists Association of Hong Kong page. http://www.ipahk.com/need-a-podiatrist/30

It seems like a very professional organization.

@jlelandg will be very happy with this :)

@JonnyCeltics: Apparently one of the doctors on the link gave @jlelandg freedom from foot pain and a new lease on life. It’s nice when fluther works as it should.

@JonnyCeltics : I know. He just sent me an extremely gracious “thank-you” for providing the link.

He says privately that he will be both dancing and playing basketball in two weeks, he hopes.

The power of fluther.
