Is it smart to buy a Pontiac Solstice?

Asked by dutchchic (57points) November 15th, 2010

I love the car, but since they are not making them will it be difficult to repair? costly? I want to make a smart car buying decision!

It’s built on GM’s Kappa Platform, which means it’s parts are interchangeable with many existing GM cars. Among those are: Chevy Cobalt, Chevy HHR, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac XLR, etc, etc.

You shouldn’t have a problem finding parts, and you can find some great deals on them now that Pontiac is gone.

Consumer Reports says the Solstice has a “Much Worse Than Average” rating for reliability, both new and used. Even if costs do turn out to be cheap, odds are, there’ll be plenty.

KBB has some Perfect Car Finder. Try that.
