Do you have any good references on 'how to build a bicycle'?

Asked by Carly (4555points) November 29th, 2010

I’m looking into building my own road bicycle, for the joy of learning how to and also to custom fit part of it.

Do you know of any good websites or books, etc that would be useful in helping me figure out all the parts I’ll need? I’ve never done this before, so an easy explanation would be more helpful. Thanks. :)

Mission Bicycle is a good resource. Plus, you can look at perfecthowto for a construction gateway.

If you mean build as in ‘obtain the parts and assemble’ then @iamthemob‘s Mission link is an excellent start.

Plus the late, great Sheldon Brown can help with almost any specific questions like Will part A work with part B?

If you mean build as in ‘weld a frame from tubes’, here is some reading material.
