Have you ever felt like you needed a shower after watching a particular movie or television show?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) December 2nd, 2010

I just watched an episode of Hoarders and as soon as I turned it off I had this incredible desire to hop in the shower. I also had this feeling after watching the movie Boogie Nights. I guess that after it was over I just felt like I wanted to wash it off. Has this ever happened to you? What movie/show did it to you?

Requiem for a Dream and Trainspotting both left me feeling like I had to wash. I liked both films but they left a distinct residue and desire to be warm and clean in a bright place.

And yeah. Hoarders does it every time. Especially one episode where the woman would tie herself onto a toilet chair to sleep at night so she wouldn’t fall off and suffocate in filth.

Just the idea of Human Centipede makes me want to shower (and was out my mouth with soap.)

Natural Born Killers. Very well done film, but incredibly disturbing. I watch tons of horror movies, and I don’t think any of them affected me the way NBK did. I didn’t mind Boogie Nights. :p

Oh – and Boys Don’t Cry. I don’t know if it was a shower so much as a long, long weep but that was one of the most painful movies I’ve ever seen.

@janbb Oh, that one was so sad. :(

LMAO at this question. Yes everytime I’ve watched Opera or the Martha Stewart shows. lol

@janbb The fact that Human Centipede exists as a mainstream film makes me not only want a bleach bath but question humanity in general.

I have not. But I bet plenty of showers are needed after watching porn!

No, but after watching the movie Antichrist I had a bad need to watch some much more traditional and cheesy horror. So, after that, I popped in The Woods…if Imma spend the night watching horror flicks about forests and witches, might as well go all out.

Antichrist was awesome, don’t get me wrong, it’s fantastic, especially because it’s different and had an effect on me that very few films can achieve. But it was so fuckin odd that I felt I needed to screw my head back on. And you’re reading this from a Street Trash and Eraserhead fan lol.
