How can I jailbreak my iphone without messing it up?

Im going to be jailbreaking my iphone again however its been a while since ive done it. Now i have an iPhone 3gs and im wondering what the highest firmware i can go to that is currently jailbreakable and UNLOCKABLE!!!! It needs to be able to be unlocked. Please help me.

@bored101 : I did make effort! I had to open a new tab, type that into google, and then type search.

@bored101 thank you.(not really). I’m assuming you dont jailbreaking iphones considering the fact that you dont know anything about the baseband or firmware and just think its that simple.

It really seems like a mess right now. If you have iOS 4.2.1, try to hold off for a couple of weeks until the Dev Team, GEOHOT and/or Comex gets their stuff together. Otherwise, you have to knock your iOS down to 4.0 or 4.1. Go here for help.

4.2.1 Is unlock able , im running iPhone 4 with 4.2.1 on 00.59 Modem (Unlock able)
You should try greenp0ioson , its pretty easy to jb
