How to uninstall Avast Antivirus?

Asked by danielcameroon (4points) February 2nd, 2011

I just install the new AVG Antivirus thinking that it would make my PC run smoothly but it didn’t happen. Please suggest some measures how to uninstall it.

erm, your uninstall issues may be due to the fact that AVG and AVAST are completely different anti-virus programs.
Which one do you have the issue with?

Usually its as easy as going to Start-allprograms-AVG-Uninstall

xp: start > control panel > uninstall/reinstall program > find avg > click the button under the name- uninstall

7: start> control panel> programs and features > do the same thing as above

AVG and Avast are different softwares. Anyway, if the regular uninstall (through control panel) doesn’t work for either of them (or whichever one you’re using) you might try downloading Revo Uninstaller which is a lot more thorough.

@firesale I beg to differ, I’ve uninstalled both of them with that procedure and have found no issue afterwards.

@Thammuz I never said there was an issue, just that incase there was there were other options. Anyway, Revo is really great for cleaning up extra registry files and folders that are usually left behind with a regular uninstall.

If you use Windows XP, click Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, select Avast Antivirus and click on Repair/Remove button to uninstall the program.
If you use Windows 7 or Vista, click Start->Control Panel(>Programs)>Programs and Features, find Avast Antivirus and click on Uninstall to delete the application.
If you want more effective methods, follow the instructions below:
