Can you get a tutor? I’m sure you’re teacher could help you arrange for a tutor, probably a fellow student. If you show initiative in wanting to improve your grade, I’m pretty sure they’ll be willing to help.

What exactly is causing the low grades? Do you not understand the material? Does the professor go too fast in lectures? Is he disorganized? What?

Hire a tutor to spend at 2–3 hours with you two weeks before every major exam and visit your university’s math center for at least an hour daily for more answers on how to solve the problems. Solve one or two examples of each math problem over and over until you remember the steps. Do math every day and more until you get it. It sounds like the science is no problem for you, but don’t neglect your homework there either and devote time to understanding the things that don’t make sense.

Always double check your answers before you turn in your work.

The problem with math is that if you don’t understand the basics, then you are going to have a very difficult time moving forward. There’s no way to jump into the middle of a new lesson and expect to do better because math is always building on earlier concepts. You say you’re just not understanding the material, but where exactly does the equation just stop making sense for you? Because that’s what you need to brush up on and/or relearn (or learn) if you want to make sense of the rest. Get yourself a tutor or take some time out each day for practice problems. Definitely speak to your teacher. I think the grade shouldn’t matter as much as you being able to understand the material—once you can do that, then the grades will come.

As for bio, I also think you would benefit not from a tutor but from you just taking some time each day to read up on the notes from your class or reading up on the chapters your teacher was talking about. Some teachers teach fast, so that means you’ve got to work that much harder to catch up or risk falling behind completely.

Talk to your teachers, tell them you’re having trouble with the material, and ask to stay after to meet with them. Going at a pace that most people can follow is tricky, so I bet you’ll understand it better one-on-one with the teacher, or with a small group. In my high school teachers were required to stay 50 minutes after school every day to help students.

Even if it doesn’t help, it shows your teachers that you care about your grades and maybe they’ll round up next time.

Good luck!
