How to restore Jolicloud to factory settings?

Asked by ro_bot (60points) February 17th, 2011

How do you restore Jolicloud 1.1 to factory settings?

I want to reset everything: usernames, passwords, settings, etc..

Is there a way to do this? I’ve searched Jolicloud.com and google.com for an answer, but couldn’t find it.

Holy crap, finally.

To delete / reset usernames.
1. Login to current user
2. Login to Jolicloud
3. Create a new user, such as “user” (Desktop -> Local Settings -> Users)
4. Logout
5. Login to “user”
6. Delete old user (Desktop -> Local Settings -> Users)
7. Delete old group, if needed (in same place)
8. Done!

BUT, I still don’t know how to change the System Name…???

Does anyone have any ideas?

Open a terminal via the menu button next to the right ctrl button,
applications> accessories >terminal

gksudo gedit /etc/hostname (then it will ask for your password you use to log into JC with)

a file will open you then find where your current system name is and change it to what you want it to be shown as.

JC is based on Ubuntu so if you need to search for help you can type in your question to google followed by ubuntu, generally the fix will work, however JC locks you out of messing with too much in a bid to stop you from screwing too much with their OS…SO….not every ubuntu fix will work but give it a try :)
