Why do my hands smell like this?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) February 22nd, 2011

For as long as I can remember, my hands when they don’t smell like soap after washing return to a burnt hickory smell. I can distinctly smell burnt wood\something with a bit of hickory that slightly sweet\savoury smell.

What is causing this? Is it my natural musk or something. It doesn’t matter what I do or have done, they always return to that smell. It is most prominent on my knuckles

What do you eat? Are you around anything that could be confusing your nose?
Do other people think this or just you?
Had sinusitus recently?

None of those. Outside, inside, when I havent been outside for a couple days, 15 minutes fter washing my hands, it always comes back. I need to put my knucles right to my nose, but it smells like it. I haven’t asked anyone else to smell my hands yet.

As for eating, I don’t eat anything that could cause this sort of thing. I don’t eat a huge variety of stuff, but it does change and the smell is consistant

This reminds me of a joke that’s (NSFW) a patient with an orange penis went to the doctor to get it checked out. When the test results returned the doctor said “well, you don’t have an STD, but I’d just like to ask about your daily routine maybe we’ll figure out the problem.” The patient said “Well doctor I’m not sure. I wake up every day, do my daily work-come home at the end of the day and watch porn and eat cheetos.”

Suffice to say-no more beef jerky for you.
