Is watching movies on FastPass tv illegal?

Asked by miki (210points) March 9th, 2011

Internet providers will sometimes notify you if you are file sharing or downloading torrents etc. I’ve known people to get caught and then charged huge fines for accessing torrent sites. Does watching online tv/movies fall in the same category? Are sites like Hulu, and FastPass tv illegal?

I’ve never watched anything on FastPass, but Hulu pays to have the shows they provide, so to answer your question: No it is not illegal to watch shows on Hulu.

Hulu is not. I am not familiar with fastpass tv.

I do know sites like surfthechannel and such are. Well they arent because they dont actually host, but the sites that host are. Now I dont know if you the viewer can get in trouble but I know videos get removed from these sites and they sometimes get in trouble for hosting.

Id be interested to hear of anyone ever getting in trouble for streaming stuff.
