I use aperture, but it doesn’t work with my new RAW images, what is good to use with a mac?

Nikon has some free software that works very sweetly with my hubby’s mac.

I have used Adobe Lightroom since it launched and it has consistently improved. I can now get my images to about 90% perfection while in Lightroom and then only need to do a few things in Photoshop. It is very powerful and you won’t be disappointed in how it works with your RAW images.

Also, if you have access to education discounts (as a teacher or student, or know someone who is) then you can get it for less than $100. Check out Academic Superstore.

All versions of Photoshop can open and write RAW image files. I’m still using my trusty old Photoshop 5.0 from 1998.

True. It all comes down to your workflow – how many images are you working on at a time, what tools do you want to have access to, and do you need an organization/cataloging system. Adobe Bridge and Camera RAW (which come with Photoshop) is very capable… I would still argue that Lightroom is an incredibly worthwhile addition for the cost.

Also, I know of people who don’t have the money to spend on Photoshop and only use Lightroom. It’s pretty amazing what they come up with!
