You can add them when you ask a question. Just type them in when you get to the “Add Topics” section.

Do you mean that you want to add topics that you are following? To do that, when you are in a question that contains topics that you want to add, just roll your mouse over the topic and Add topic will come up. Click and you have added that topic.

That took me forever to figure out also. Unfortunately, I don’t think that there’s a way to randomly create your own, though.

@dxs New topics are created when added to a question. So, if for example, you asked a question about parenting (and it wasn’t already a topic) and put parenting as a topic for the question, it would then be a topic on Fluther. The admins of Fluther want the topics to stay on point because that is what guides the question recommendations for users, so there was a team set to clean up the topics and organize them. The mods will clean up topics in questions if they are out of hand (such as putting just random things that aren’t really appropriate) in order to keep them organized and functioning well.

Also, if there’s a topic you’re interested in and you don’t have occasion to just come across it in a question, you can type it into the search box at the top right of the page. You can get to it that way, and add it by mousing over it and clicking on ‘add topic’.
