Did you know that today is National Licorice Day? Love it or hate it?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) April 12th, 2011

I am not fond of licorice. I will not eat anything that is black and tastes morbid and licorice fills that bill. Question: licorice: do you love it or do you hate it?

Everything except black licorice. Does anyone remember Starburst licorice? That was the best, but I think they stopped making it ;(

It’s also National Grilled Cheese Day! Licorice and a Grilled Cheese sandwich no we are having fun! Australian licorice is the best! Yum!

How do you guys know this stuff????

Don’t like licorice, love grilled cheese.

I love licorice flavoured stuff (candy, Sambuca), but I don’t like eating actual licorice, like those licorice pipes you used to be able to buy. And the licorice allsorts my grandparents always kept on the coffee table.

But anise flavouring? Yum! I might have to have a shot of Sambuca to celebrate the holiday!

Ummm! I love black licorice. Really good tasting black licorice is hard to come by so when I do come across it I buy a few bags at a time. The licorice I’m munching on now is ‘Aussie Style’ soft gourment licorice black (go figure). @Cruiser, Yummy.

I can take it or leave it, but this question reminded me of ouzo. Yum.

I hate the taste of anise.

Disgusting stuff.

No I didn’t, tsk…it takes allsorts!

Hate it, even the smell.

No, it’s vile, I can’t bear liquorice (except for the fruit flavoured sort). I also detest anything aniseed flavoured.

Give me the grilled cheese though. I love that. :)

I’d rather lick the bottom of my shoe than eat liquorice. Well, maybe not.

Licorice? Love Red, hate Black.
Black licorice has a flavor that resembles a spice called Anise. I am pretty sure that is pronounced A-Nus, cause that’s what it tastes like.

Love both black and red licorice.

I love it! It’s really cool with jelly beans because no one else will eat them, and I get to eat them all myself!

The only licorice that I tried and didn’t like was Dutch licorice. Too salty.

YMMM I going to buy a pack of red vines now!!!!

Allie's avatar

I love Red Vines. There’s a place here that sells a variety of flavored licorice too. The green apple and pomegranate flavored licorice.. YUM!
I don’t care for black licorice though. Not the candy anyway.

I ♥ Going to the movies and snacking on redvines, especially to bite off the tip of each end and use it as a straw to drink my Pepsi!!

JilltheTooth's avatar

@JustJessica : Aww, that’s just cute!
