Okay, I'm seriously bored. What to do?

Asked by MilkyWay (13745points) May 30th, 2011

I’m not feeling too well. I’m in bed and bored. Fluther seems a bit quiet today and I’m getting increasingly frustrated as to what I should do. Any ideas for what a poorly person can do besides rest?
Thanks jellies.

Invite a friend over for tea and crumpets…

Coloma's avatar

Read a book, watch a movie, take a nap, make yourself a huge milkshake, call a friend, draw a picture, make some cookies, have some soup, write a poem, make some prank phone calls, listen to music.
You’re already Fluthering, sooooo, are you saying we are boring? lol

MilkyWay's avatar

No @Coloma darling, you jellies can never be boring :)
@HungryGuy Are you hungry?

TexasDude's avatar

Teach yourself Sanskrit.

Coloma's avatar

@queenie

Hope you feel better soon cupcake! ;-)

MilkyWay's avatar

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard teach me?
@Coloma Thanks I’m guessing you know ;)

TexasDude's avatar

@queenie darling, if I knew Sanskrit, I’d teach you in a heartbeat.

HungryGuy's avatar

@queenie – Oh, yes! :-p

Coloma's avatar

@queenie

Well, if ‘it’s’ what I think it is, be glad you are not living in some ancient tribe where you would be banished to a hut in the jungle for the week. lol ;-)

MilkyWay's avatar

I have absolutley no idea what you’re talkin bout, but okay ;)

No one has mentioned listening to some music that’s comforting. Or tune in to Animal Planet on the tv. (If it’s not amusing, turn it off) Or, if you’re someone that likes everything neat, straighten a drawer or two. But if you were that kind of person, the drawers are probably already neat. How about a game of solitaire, for imaginary money?

Coloma's avatar

@queenie

I was refering to the ‘curse’ :-D

Read a book, surf the web, crochet, knit, clean up a bit. If you’re a volleyball player like me, bump the volleyball or set it for a while. Move around a little. Do anything but be a lazy bumm, trust me, it hurts you ass a lot.

MilkyWay's avatar

LOL! Thanks guys!

KateTheGreat's avatar

Come hang out with me in Germany?

I really really really really want to sit down with you and be British one day.

KateTheGreat's avatar

@queenie We can sit down and drink tea. Then I’ll make you falafels!

MilkyWay's avatar

@KatetheGreat Ooooh, yes! Then we’ll both play a game of croquet ;)

Kardamom's avatar

Start planning a feast, or at least start searching Google for all sorts of great dishes that you plan to prepare in the future, then save them under Recipes in your favorites. Here are some topics to get you started:

Soup
Salad
Cake
Noodle Dish
Dish from Another Nation
Casserole
Pie
Cookies (or do you Brits call them biscuits?)
Something clearly from the U.S. that you’ve been curious about
Veggies
Something clearly from Russia, to share with @KatetheGreat

KateTheGreat's avatar

@queenie Then we can roam around England screaming “God save the queen!!!!!”

MilkyWay's avatar

@Kardamom Thanks lovey! I’m gona go do that right now :D
Oh, and these are called cookies here. Anything else is biscuits :)
@KatetheGreat God save the Queen!

Coloma's avatar

Or, you can fly on out to Californi and muck out my barn. ;-)

Brian1946's avatar

What could possibly be more fun than repainting my windowsills?

Kardamom's avatar

@queenie That’s what I thought, but one of the other jellies told me that most things that we yanks call cookies are referred to as biscuits in England. Either way, they’re all good.

What exactly is a digestive biscuit? Is that just a cracker or cookie that is loaded with fiber? I always notice that they give children digestive biscuits in movies about British shoolchildren. I watch a lot of movies about British schoolchildren and British movies in general. I wonder if Alan Rickman eats digestive biscuits? Or Patrick Stewart?

MilkyWay's avatar

@Brian1946 @Coloma Slave drivers :P
I wouldn’t mind, if I was feeling myself.

Coloma's avatar

@Brian1946

Lets barter. My barn for your windowsills. ;-)

MilkyWay's avatar

@Kardamom Digestive biscuits are probably the most popular biscuits here. Yes, they’re high in fibre and taste amazing :D
There’s different varieties of them though, some plain, some covered in chocolate. Mcvities are the main producers of Digestives over here.

Kardamom's avatar

@Coloma Now that is a great idea! Fluthering for Barter or Fluthering and Freecycling.

@queenie No wonder the boys in the movie I saw last night The Midnight Feast were bartering for those digestive biscuits (now that I know what they are). There’s a cute little British store in my town, I should go check it out and see if they have any.

Now, if you could kindly explain to me what spotted dick is? Is that like a pudding or a cake, and why does it come in a can? Does it always come in a can or is that something you would make at home for dessert?

Do they have quaint little United States style stores in England? British stuff is really cool to us, but I would think that U.S. stuff would mostly be seen as very crass and commercialized.

MilkyWay's avatar

Spotted Dick is indeed a pudding. I guess it doesn’t always come in a can, as my mum has made that at home before.
I don’t like it very much, I’m afraid I haven’t come across a store specialising in American cuisine, but you do get American stuff here like McDonalds and KFC etc. But hey, Heinz is a respected brand and very popular over here.

Brian1946's avatar

@queenie

Have you ever seen a Mexican restaurant where you live?

Coloma's avatar

I’ve never seen Heinz Spotted Dick in the states…funny!

Berserker's avatar

When I feel like that, it’s movie time for me. But if that doesn’t work, you should check out http://www.stumbleupon.com/home/ It’s the best online remedy for boredom!

Or you could take the Xena Character Test if you’re really bored.

MilkyWay's avatar

@Symbeline Thanks sistah :)

Find a way to make some else’s day easier or more joyful.

Meego's avatar

Not sure about you but when I’m bored I certainly don’t want Heinz’s Spotted Dick! :/

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

Read webcomics or blogs. I’m reading Clients from Hell right now, later I’ll be doing XKCD. There’s also Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and Penny Arcade and Cyanide and Happiness and Questionable Content and many more. Also, Hyperbole and a Half, Engrish, The Daily What, Lamebook and my new favorite Literally Unbelievable which chronicles the reactions of people who don’t know The Onion is satire on Facebook. FYI, if you didn’t know, The Onion is satire, and Planned Parenthood is not building an 8-billion dollar abortionplex with government funds.

If you are otherwise healthy then get your body moving. Force yourself to for a long walk. Your body will reward you by making you feel better. Your body needs regular vigorous exercise in order to maintain good health.

ecstaticpancakes's avatar

Quit relying on Fluther for entertainment. Go outside and enjoy life.

It does a body good

HungryGuy's avatar

@ecstaticpancakes – No thanks! It’s a gazillion degrees outside right now!

Berserker's avatar

I hear that, fuck outside lol.
