How do I cancel an order on Amazon?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46813points) July 15th, 2011

I ordered several things around June 27th. Received everything promptly except for one item. That item was to be received between July 5 and 20th. It has read “Shipping soon,” since then. The seller has not responded to my queries. I just want to cancel the damn thing, but I don’t know how.

Go to “Your Account”
Click on “Open Orders”
The item should be on your list…one of the buttons is “Cancel Items”...click it.

I don’t see one….when I click on “Available actions” a note comes up and says “This portion of your order is being prepared for shipment and cannot be canceled or changed.”

@Dutchess_III Then contact the seller by email or phone. If that doesn’t work, click on the Amazon “customer service” button. I have found Amazon to be incredibly fast to reply.

I’ve sent two messages. Let me see if I can find a phone number. Thanks @SpatzieLover.

I can’t find a damn number for them. Guess I’ll contact Amazon.

If nothing else, the seller should have had to filled out a form where the Amazon rep can give you the phone number from.

Thanks for the heads up @Dutchess_III. What type of product did you purchase?

It was a poster of the Constitution for my class room. I ordered one of the Periodic Table of Elements from another seller and got it within 3 days. I should have paid closer attention to the ratings. He only have 75% positive and 17% negative. That’s high for an online seller. Reading the feedback, I’m not the only person to have had this problem.
