In Facebook, how do I remove a photo that someone else has tagged me in, so unfortunately it shows up on my Facebook profile?

Asked by jca (36062points) August 4th, 2011

I understand I cannot take this photo off the other person’s photos. I just want to eliminate it from my Facebook profile.

I am tagged in a friend’s Facebook photo, so it’s on my Facebook profile.

I saw an “x” at the top right of the photo, but it says it will just make it invisible to me, my friends will still be able to see it, therefore, it’s not really what I want. I want to remove it from my FB altogether.

On the bottom of the picture, it will state who is tagged in the photo. Beside your name, there are options in parentheses that say “untag”. Just click that and it will not be on your profile anymore.

The nice thing about untagging is that once you untag yourself, the person who posted the picture can’t tag you again. Just another li’l tidbit :)

@Seelix: That’s stupid, but not surprising.

@jca How is that stupid at all? that’s great!

I think it’s great, too! That way you don’t have to worry about being tagged again in a humiliating photo taken at that perfect second when you have food in your mouth, one eye closed and are making a weird-looking gesture.

If you don’t want to untag the photo, you can still remove the post from your newsfeed/wall, by clicking the x beside it… and you can likewise remove it from the photo banner on your profile by clicking the x in the top right corner of the picture.

I thought you all meant the person who tagged you could never tag you again for anything. If it means (as I think I now understand it to mean) that the person cannot tag you with the same photo, it’s good. I thought it meant the person could never again tag you for any photo. Got it (I smell wood burning).
