Any upcoming movie worth being excited about?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28814points) August 30th, 2011

And not just the biggies but also any independent film that you think is worth seeing? Thanks!

Trollhunter just came out on dvd. It’s from Norway and, personally,I think it’s one of the best fake found footage films I ever seen. I’m a nerd for muppets so I’m excited about the one coming out.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard IMDB says 2013. Sorry.

@size7 I’m looking forward to Contagion, as well.

@8Convulsions

“The prequel to The Thing!”

Do you know what the title of that prequel is?

8Convulsions's avatar

@Brian1946 Haha. Yes, I just felt too stupid saying I was excited about The Thing (2011). You would think they could have come up with something better to call it.

The Thinymajig? perhaps not.

Contagion. I got started in the world of internet forums back in 2007 with the Bird Flu scare and was even a Mod at this one site….(gasp) and I have been here since so to see a movie about something so near and dear to me is a must see for me. Plus it has an all star cast of some of my fav actors and especially Gwyneth (woof)! Add to that it is directed by Steven Soderbergh and I expect it will be good action thriller.

I’d like to see the new Fright Night, a movie called Columbiana and the new remake of Conan: The Barbarian, just because the guy who plays Conan is yuuuummyyyy.

I’ll admit it, I’m looking forward to The Hunger Games.

Tintin, the wife & kids aren’t interested in seeing it, which just leaves this big kid….ahh well.

The Rum Diary looks pretty good.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is sure to be an action packed film.
And of course The Avengers.

Thanks to all jellies who posted!

@shpadoinkle_sue I missed Trollhunters when it was shown in DC a few weeks ago. Should have checked that one out. I’ve seen that scary Santa Claus film also from Norway ( i think ) in that same independent movie house and it was refreshing to watch a movie not from Hollywood but somehow tried to inject some Hollywood formula in it. It’s not bad at all, really.

shpadoinkle_sue's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate I think Jason Momoa is pretty, too. :)

It’s a ways off, but Django Unchained sounds like it’ll be great.
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard I’m with you. I’ve been waiting for the BioShock movie for ages.

Can’t wait until Rubber is released on DVD.

8Convulsions's avatar

@Blondesjon it should be out already. I just watched it a few weeks ago through Netflix.

Blondesjon's avatar

@8Convulsions . . . It ain’t hit the shelves out here in corn country yet and Netflix don’t work in the stix.

is it as horribly fantastic as it looks?

mrrich724's avatar

I thought the q. asked for indy films but other people are listing blockbusters (moneyball), so I’ll say Expendables 2 . . . and whatever Eastwood’s coming out with next!

mazingerz88's avatar

@mrrich724 Eastwood’s coming up with a J. Edgar Hoover biopic with Leonardo DiCaprio. : )

mrrich724's avatar

OMG, I did see a preview for it and it looks pretty awesome!

El_Cadejo's avatar

@Blondesjon netflix dont work in the stix? Odd. I would think as long as you have an internet connection youd be good. And I mean your connection is fast enough for you to do your show so that shouldnt be stoppin it either.

Vunessuh's avatar

The documentary Rebirth looks remarkable.

8Convulsions's avatar

@Blondesjon I was really stoked for the first half. It was pretty awesome. By the end though, it was losing me. It kindof goes on forever. It’s definitely worth watching though.

Blondesjon's avatar

@uberbatman . . . My connection used to be fast enough to stream the show. Now I am reduced to satellite Internet and the Bandwidth Police. No Netflix or XBOX Live for me. :(

@8Convulsions . . . Cool. I was hooked when I saw the trailer. I also really want to see this with David Hyde Pierce.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@Blondesjon ahhh man that blows. Sorry. :(

shpadoinkle_sue's avatar

@Blondesjon I saw The Perfect Host. It was really good. Not what I expected at all through the whole movie. You’ll enjoy it.
