Propagandhi, Fifteen, Jawbreaker, Hot Water Music, Screeching Weasel.

CatieDalleLydon's avatar

Have any of you ever heard of Echo and the Bunnymen?

lloydbird's avatar

I like a rubber, a oneman, the occasional bit of contra, but not a hus.

Can’t think of any musical favorites though. Too many to pick from.

tranquilsea's avatar

My favourites are Queen and Spirit of the West. Both bands put out many albums that were great: one after another.

jonsblond's avatar

Jane’s Addiction and any band Jack White is associated with.

@CatieDalleLydon I grew up listening to Echo And The Bunnymen in the 80s. I was a big fan and still have one of the cassette tapes hidden somewhere in the basement. I was also a big fan of New Order, The Cure and Depeche Mode.

tom_g's avatar

Modest Mouse probably. I’ll have a different answer tomorrow.

DeanV's avatar

Radiohead or Sage Francis. Fads always seem to change, but those have got to be my all time favorites.

@jonsblond Even these guys?

beccagolling's avatar

Skillet
Black Veil Brides
Daft Punk
Beck

CatieDalleLydon's avatar

@tom g
Haha yes I’m still thinking of them all.
Queens of the Stone Age!

jonsblond's avatar

@dverhey I haven’t heard it yet. I’m not a fan of ICP, but it does sound intriguing.=)

Michael_Huntington's avatar

@dverhey Holy shit, I laughed so hard at the audio sample.
“YO MOZART, something something art”

DeanV's avatar

@jonsblond Can’t stand them myself, but it’s pretty damn funny. I’m just wondering if it’s supposed to be funny or not.

CatieDalleLydon's avatar

@jonsblond
Oh yes how could I leave them out? Such wonderful bands.

XOIIO's avatar

@dverhey I like some ICP stuff, a few songs are alright but the rest are crappy. Angels falling is one of the best.

jonsblond's avatar

@dverhey & @Michael_Huntington dammit, my daughter has Enchanted on and I don’t have any headphones. I really need to hear this. lol

smilingheart1's avatar

Wedding band? (lol)

CatieDalleLydon's avatar

@smilingheart1
Oh dear aren’t you funny lol

XOIIO's avatar

Heres my favorite ICP songs, and the only ones on my iPod.

Truly Alone
Basehead Attacks
Burning Up
Staaaaale
Walk Into The Darkness
Night Of The 44
Every Day I Die
Suicide Hotline
Angels Falling
I listen to the music more than the lyrics so i can stand some of the less good stuff for good beats.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@XOIIO the lyrics are the best part, though.

smilingheart1's avatar

@CatieDalleLydon, well I did debate about answering Beatles which really is true. They may have stopped playing decades ago and John and George are pretty cold these days but in all seriousness, has there ever been another musical group whose music lives on so? While being considered “rock n’ roll” when that music genre was recognized, has there been another group whose music has been so amenable to translate to easy listening and instrumental? Surely they must have been the one musical group of all time whose music could be re-styled into timeless pieces.

XOIIO's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf Not true for Rap music, The bass and beats are best but the lyrics often take away from it. ICP does have good lyrics though, for those songs at least.

incendiary_dan's avatar

Rage Against the Machine, Resident Anti-Hero, Propaghandi, Blackfire, Joy Division, and most of all Indiana Handshake (could have something to do with the fact that the guitarist happens to be my little brother). There’s a few more I could put in there, but I actually haven’t been listening to much music lately.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@XOIIO ICP’s lyrics are hilarious, for the most part. I don’t even like rap, but ICP is entertaining. It’s also catchy.

XOIIO's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf True, true lol

I foudn ICP by watching that death racers movie lol

Echo & the Bunnymen are one of my feel good bands. I play Ocean Rain often, especially when I’m on the bus. It just puts me in cheery spirits even when I’m sad.

Two of my favourite bands are Queen and Sigur Rós. I can never choose a definitive favourite, though. I hop from one to another often. But those two have tunes that make my soul happy.

CatieDalleLydon's avatar

@amujinx
Good bands but the clash… I’m not a fan haha. The Germs are probably my second favorite to Echo.

A lot of my favourites are solo artists, so I didn’t include them.

Any of Conor Oberst’s bands (Bright Eyes, Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk, Desaparecidos, etc…), The Dead Weather, CocoRosie, The Black Keys, Rilo Kiley, The Felice Brothers, The White Stripes, Be Your Own Pet, The Libertines, Rancid

Most recently, The Smiths and Hole are moving up on my list as well

I have the awful feeling that I’m leaving quite a few out; I used to be able to rattle off my list of favourite bands at any given opportunity, but now I’ve become a lot less adamant about keeping track.

boxer3's avatar

@martianspringtime man, youre putting me on a train to nostalgia.

It’s late but I can’t fall asleep, like you do straight through til morning.
When you pour my coffee and say baby
all that caffiene, causes bad dreams
where all your anxiety, is unleashed.

and CocoRosie. jeesh. <3
