How much is this transcription player worth?

Asked by livingchoice (553points) September 21st, 2011

I have an old NewComb Model TR-16 Transcription Player and want to know how much is it worth. It is used but in pretty good condition. I there a site or a store that will buy these at a fair price? What should I do to get the most profit from this?

For things like this I usually search on eBay for current and completed auctions to get a general idea of how much something is worth. You have to be a registered user on eBay to see the completed auctions but they will tell you whether or not the item actually sold and for how much. Someone recently sold a Newcomb TR-1656 Transcription player for $199.00 but there’s another one for sale with a buy it now price of $145.00. It’s hard to say what yours is worth because a lot of the value has to do with the condition of the item. But there’s definitely a market for old electronics and some people buy them for parts, for the vacuum tubes, that sort of thing. So… you might try to list it on eBay and see how you do. I think that’s your best option, possibly your only option.

This site also has a lot of information on Newcomb transcription players.
