Can someone help me figure out why I can't get any sound in the Winamp Media Player?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) September 24th, 2011

I have the volume turned up high in the player itself and on my laptop so that’s not the problem.

For both music and video, there’s absolutely no sound whatsoever.

For video, the picture works great, just no audio.

I don’t think it’s a file format issue either, because the files play just fine with sound in different media players I’ve tried.

So I’m assuming it has to be a setting in Winamp itself I’m not seeing? Can someone walk me through this problem? Thanks.

Does audio work in any other programs?

All audio works perfect in all other programs and media players. iTunes works, Windows Media Player works, youtube works, my laptop’s windows sounds works. It’s just Winamp I’m having problems with. So I’m kinda baffled.

Maybe there’s a mute on/off setting in WinAmp separate from the volume high/low setting?
You could have the volume on high but mute is also on?

Or maybe WinAmp is trying to send sound to headphones instead of the laptop speakers?
