How do you celebrate and appreciate November? Can we get the month back without looking like The Grinch?

Asked by jonsblond (43668points) November 2nd, 2011

Christmas music and advertisements before Halloween? It’s Nov. 2nd now and Santa has completely taken over. :/

I have all my November decorations out, so I’m doing my part.

My late dad’s birthday, my brother’s birthday.

And on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we can all take a moment to remember Veterans Day AKA Armistice Day

My sister, my grandmother’s and my birthday are all in November. So until the 27th, we’re celebrating those.

I hope we can get November back. It has its own set of holidays, including Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. My grandfather, a veteran and a great lover of both fall colors and turkey, said it was his favorite month.

There’s also my mother’s birthday, my mother-in-law’s birthday, and housewife day!

MY NECRONS COME OUT NOVEMBER 5TH!!!!! I“M SQUEALING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL IN ANTICIPATION!!!!

ahem, On a more mature and less nerdy note, I’m going to be helping out with giving out free Thanksgiving dinners to the community come Nov. 21.

…but then there is my Mother’s birthday… and well, that’s going to be a miserable day, as always.

@SavoirFaire
Housewife day? really? How did I not know of this? =)

@jonsblond I don’t know how official it is, but it’s supposed to be November 3rd. I’d get a certain someone right on that if I were you!

I love November. I turn on my fireplace and cosy up to books and movies. And my dog loves the walks in the morning. It is always great to be alive, somewhat nimble, and battling every day for the common good. Even in November. Don’t let anyone stop you from celebrating anything you want. They are just sorry sorts who have lost their joy.

A lot of people I know celebrate November as Gratitude month, working on a daily basis to have gratitude for what they have in their lives.

I told the woman at Starbucks this morning how nice it used to be “back in the day” when Starbucks didn’t bring out the holiday cups until November 15th.

How do I appreciate it?

Well, I have 2 holidays this month, which means days off from school. That in itself is a celebration and appreciation.

Through Thanksgiving. The real story behind the first Thanksgiving.

It’s the month after my birthday & before christmas, so it’s a pretty “ordinary” month really.
Although bonfire night on the 5th is always fun, nowt like letting off a few fireworks.

November has my birthday in it, but apart from that I hate the month. It’s cold and miserable and reminds me how few shopping days are left til Christmas.

If you want to be part of a ground swell, don’t buy anything Xmas related in November, and start an internet movement of like minded people to follow you.

I saw a woman at Whole Foods today wearing a red holiday sweater. I had to count to ten and then bite my tongue to keep from saying anything.
