Can you use the do-it-yourself acrylic kits to fill over a professionally done set?

Asked by chasy (127points) December 24th, 2011

I was wondering if the acrylic kits you can buy at Wal-Mart are compatible with the acrylic nails you get done professionally. I have a gift card for getting my nails done but I don’t want to spend money every two weeks to get them filled. Is it reasonable to plan on doing the fill myself with the do-it-yourself acrylic kits?

It’s mostly the technique of going to the nail shop that you’re paying for. The product is secondary in my opinion.

So, @whitetigress, is that a yes? ;D

@chasy I think a more well qualified jelly should answer this :D

Some purists would say you can’t do it. I suggest you try it once or twice and see if you like the results.

That’s what I suspected too, @YARNLADY. But I think I’ll do like you suggested and try it. :)

Thank you all for your help! :)
