Who uses candles more as a seductive tactic, men or women?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) April 21st, 2012

I never have been a candle-type of guy to use candles as bait to lure someone into the sack. I only used candles when the lights go out or on a birthday cake. My wife uses candles all the time. I thought she was burning candles, just to make the house smell good. Now that I think about it, we have burned a lot of candles in the past 46 years of marriage and now, I know why. Last night, I discovered her intentions, by using the glow of candles, was for another purpose, altogether. If you know what I mean.

Question: are candles used as a seductive tool? If so, who uses them more…...men or women? And, how effective are the use of candles for you in personal relationships?

JP: Both. But do you really need an answer as long as you both get lucky?

46 years and you just now found out? Jeez you are a slow learner. :-)

I burn candles almost every evening, but it’s not to seduce anyone, I just like the smell.

I burn candles a lot. I like the kind of light that candles give and I usually like the scent. My husband never burns candles. As for seduction, that is rarely my intention, although I won’t say never.

I like candles as well, for their ambiance and soft light.
I wouldn’t go so far to say I have used them as a seduction tactic, but they are romantic as well as just nice in general.
I will say that I did light my bedroom curtains on fire a few years ago with a candle that was too close on a wicker shelf in my bedroom. This was during an intimate moment with an ex lover and it still makes me laugh, kind of lends a whole new meaning to “c’mon baby light my fire.” lol

IMO, I tend to think guys use them more as seduction tactic than woman, who tend to use them for the scent. I have used them during a romantic night in, and I’ve had guys do it as well.

I’ve never used them for seductive purposes, and have never had them used by a guy like that, either.

I would hazard a guess that it’s more of a woman thing, but it’s sexy when a guy does it, or so I imagine.

I would hazard a guess that women like candles more, but men are more likely to use them for seduction purposes because they appeal to women.
