Kinda NSFW Re: British television?

Asked by Imadethisupwithnoforethought (14682points) May 23rd, 2012

Do you folks have male nudity on your regular channels?

I am watching a show about a preoperative transgender Hit Man becoming woman played by Chloe Svengy. Her character has a penis which flops about in the shower.

Is this typical of European TV? Is there a lot of male nudity? What I am trying to understand is if it is okay because she is a woman playing a man, and it is obviously a fake thing, or if you have male nudity in general. How often is there trans nudity in popular shows?

I have never seen full-frontal male or trans nudity on TV in the UK, but it’s more common in some other European countries. What the law actually states about it, I don’t really know.

There’s a watershed in place, this dictates that any “adult” content can only be shown after 9pm & there’s always a warning immediately before the show begins.
Having said that, the only example I can think of where male nudity is shown is on a documentary type programme called Embarrassing Bodies.
I did read somewhere that a ridiculous “law” is in place regarding various states of erection allowed on TV. Something about the “legal angle” that can be shown, beyond a certain point is not permissible.
I’d like to think there’s a guy somewhere measuring & editing out unsuitable material as a matter of course, that would be funny.
