Can I use a 4gb or 8gb jump drive to use Time Machine on OSx leopard?

I do not have an external drive, nor do I need to bsck up many filed, but since I have the software, I would like to use it.

Hmmm, well will all your files fit on a 4 GB jump drive to begin with? Also I doubt the temporary drive will show up in time machine preferences to start with.

plug it in, and open time machine. If it let’s you set it up it will. If not, I sincerely doubt there’s a way around it. You can buy a really small external for cheap if you’re just trying to do a few files.
