AT&T smart phone users: How much data do you go through in a month?

Asked by _Whitetigress (4378points) August 5th, 2012

And what data plan do you currently have?

(I’m considering a move into the AT&T universe)

Generally 300–400MB/month for me (with frequent web browsing, moderate app store downloading, and maybe 20 mins/day avg of low-bitrate vids like YouTube).

I’m Verizon (not AT&T) but I average around (and not always under) 2GB/month.

That is a bit of browsing, updating apps, GPS usage during my commute (gotta get those traffic conditions), and a little internet radio, but minimal/no video streaming.

I usually use about 250 MB/month – e-mail, FB, browsing, GPS. I don’t do much streaming (YouTube or NetFlix)

Is there typically a warning before going over your set plan? Or will it just go overboard and then find out through the bill.

I don’t think there is a warning. Personally, I am grandfathered into an unlimited plan anyways, but I have a widget that tracks my data usage just to satisfy my own curiosity. When I first got my phone, I got a plan that was bigger than my wife and I thought we needed (1400 minutes, unlimited data) and asked them to adjust out down to 700/unlimited once we got an idea what our real usage was. Far cheaper than overage charges :p
