Computer and Audio Gurus: I need help upgrading my sound card for MacBook Pro Early 2011?

Asked by _Whitetigress (4378points) December 6th, 2012

I’m wanting to install a new sound card that is higher quality than the standard one.

My end goal is basically I just want to record music via usb and not go through a preamp with a really good sound card that is external. I’m already using the Yeti Pro which does have a preamp but you know how digital recording is, pretty lame, so I’m thinking if my internal sound card is good, the sound quality will be good, and I can mix, master and export/bounce a loud sounding song. Currently when I export using Logic or Garageband the mp3 is pretty quiet.

As far as I know the sound subsystem is built onto the motherboards logic boards and not a separate card. This generally the case for all laptops and, more than likely, the Apple desktops.

Your only re-course would be using an external sound device.
