How to keep the screws in the holes on the bottom of my laptop?

Asked by RandomGirl (3362points) March 20th, 2013

I’ve had my laptop for a few months, and for a month or so, a couple of the screws in the bottom have been falling out every so often. I’ve managed to find them and get them back in, but I’m worried they’ll fall out and I won’t be able to one of these days.
My dad put clear nail polish on one and screwed it in before the polish dried, but it fell out a few weeks later.

Any ideas? I’m about ready to get some durable tape and tape over all the holes.

You can, of course, use tape or superglue, but if it were my laptop, I’d try to get the manufacturer, dealer or a repairer to replace the screws with ones that stayed screwed in, as they’re supposed to be.

Try some Loc-tite. It’s in auto stores. It’s made to keep screws in. Here’s a link:

For a small, self-tapping screw going into plastic, I would use some form of cyanoacrylate; either the regular stuff (Superglue) over the anaerobic stuff (LocTite). Either will do the trick though, and both work far better (and last longer) than nail polish.
