If you get the feeling that someone is thinking about you, does it mean they are?

Asked by Valenzcia18 (76points) May 9th, 2013 from iPhone

Like do you get that “I miss you” feeling inside? Do you get a vibe when you think about that person?

My identical twins do.

Not necessarily.

rojo's avatar

Not necessarily but I have noticed that it is not uncommon for me to think about someone out of the blue and have them contact me shortly thereafter.
Coincidence?

Why sure, if…

1) You call or text them and say you’re thinking about them
(2 You’re sitting next to them and poking them in the ribs

Otherwise, probably not.

I tend to think yes, though maybe not at that exact moment.

I do not think so. I think it means you are thinking of them.

It’s more likely wishful thinking on your part.
When you are thinking of someone and you hear from them or run into them, it’s called synchronicity. And it_ isn’t_ cause and effect.

tedibear's avatar

No, it means that you are thinking about them. That’s all.

I mean, that would kind of require magic. So unless you believe in that sort of thing – no.

syz's avatar

Uh, no.

josie's avatar

I wouldn’t bet on the notion

Ok, I’m going to go against the current and say YES…. and no!

People have very strong intuitions – but when we like/love/lust over someone, our minds get clouded as well…

For example, I’ve been liking this guy in my class for the whole semester, but me and him never spoke a word to each other—ever. Until 2 weeks ago, he told me “I’ve been wanting to talk to you for the whole semester.”

Many couples or people who have strong bonds can communicate with each other – when your partner is worried about something, or hurt, you have this internal feeling.

But that would depend on how sync you are with the world, the other person, and yourself.

But just because you like someone and are missing/thinking of them, does not necessarily mean that they are reciprocating the feelings as well – because we can be interested in people who aren’t interested in us.

Only when a similar external stimulus triggers the same thoughts. For example you first met when you both saw a rainbow. New rainbows in two different locations at the same time can make you think about each other. Telepathy doesn’t exist.

rojo's avatar

@mattbrowne I knew you were going to say that.

I know, I know, but you knew someone was going to say it

Kardamom's avatar

No. It means that YOU are thinking about THEM.
