What did YOU eat today?

Asked by livelaughlove21 (15724points) May 17th, 2013 from iPhone

What I ate:

BREAKFAST
a piece whole wheat toast with peanut butter, a banana, ½ container of fat free yogurt, and water

LUNCH
an apple, 10 almonds, and water (my tuna wrap tasted funny, so I had to settle for my planned afternoon snack)

DINNER
homemade grilled cheeseburger and sweet potato fries with ketchup and a cherry coke zero

Now I’m waiting an hour to digest before I hit the gym for a night-time workout.

What about you?

Do you really care?
Breakfast: around 8 multiigrain lightly salted crackers, 12 oz. water
Lunch: 1½ c gumbo, 1½ slices toast with melted cheese on it, 2 chocolate chip cookies, 12 oz water
Dinner: Roasted pork short ribs with veggies, French bread and butter, tomato slices and avocado with lettuce and oil/vinegar dressing. . . . and Ice cream. And 12 oz water.
Sounds good to me. Haven’t eaten dinner yet, bu I can smell it cooking.

Breakfast: Two bowls of a fresh fruit salad we made last night: Granny Smith apples, Braeburn apples, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, pineapple and raspberries. Coffee and water.

Lunch: garden salad with grilled beef steak type fajita meat on top. Water.

Dinner: Lettuce wraps with grilled chicken and a wife assortment of grilled veggies. A few bites of a taco salad I made for guests. Water.

@XOIIO Yeah, she told me she’s had better.

@Sunny2 I asked, didn’t I?

Two Shredded Wheat biscuits with a little milk and Sweet’n’Low. That’s it so far.

Oh, and two cups of coffee with half scoops of diet shake mixed in instead of creamer.

Unbroken's avatar

Cherry juice two prunes and supplements for breakfast.

Green smoothie with banana mixed berries, romaine lettuce chia seeds, flax seeds, nutmeg and beet greens for a snack.

Lunch was baked chicken with paprika, lemon pepper and lemon thyme fresh from my in house herbs drizzled in herbs de provenance oil. Lima beans with lemon juice, chilli powder.

Dinner I have yet to decide, I have a gluten free pancake mix from Breads from Anna that looks good so I am leaning toward that.

And I have a left over salad so that will help out those carbs and sugar. Yep thats what I am going to do. : ) Yum

Everything previously looks so healthy, I’m almost embarrassed to admit what I ate today.

breakfast: Greek yogurt with smashed up walnuts (hand smashed in a cellophane bag on my work desk LOL).
a donut
lunch: ¼ turkey and bacon on a roll, no mayo
chocolate chip cookies
popcorn
just now (pre-dinner) half an orange
cheese- its

to drink today: coffee with Splenda and milk
tea with splenda and milk

I ate:

Breakfast: pumpernickel with some hummus and drank water.

Lunch: 2 veggie patty/burgers (no bread, not a sandwich) and tator tots with ketchup and some decaf iced tea with a teaspoon of sugar.

Dinner: edamame and a ruby red grapefruit and water.

I might still eat one more thing. Trying to be close to vegan at home. One regular cheat is cereal about twice a week with milk. My cholesterol did come down over 70 points from my test two months ago. The test two months ago was my highest cholesterol reading ever. I was afraid maybe diet might stop working for me, which happened to my dad in his 50’s.

@jca Everything previously looks so healthy

I know! Super healthy. It puts my 1100 calories to shame.

talljasperman's avatar

No breakfast, lunch chicken breast and beef barley soup, dinner teen burger. snack expired cauliflower and broccoli with whipped cream topping.

@livelaughlove21 Have fun at the gym.

I may have ate healthy so far but I gots no juice today. The day I had…well… Going to the gym may or may not happen for me.

Coloma's avatar

Oh you don’t even want to know! Today is a baaad day.
I had Taco Bell for brunch, and now it is almost 5 p.m. and I am on my 4th Corona Lite after kicking butt on my garden all afternoon.
I planted 3 tomatoes, 2 lemon cucumbers, 2 yellow squash, a Zucchini and about 40,000 flower seeds. Fuck it all…I worked off the junk food hauling 300 lbs. of garden amendments, raking, watering and crawling around in the dirt on my hands and knees for 3 hours. lol

Pachy's avatar

Breakfast: Healthy-ish (2 poached eggs atop lightly buttered English muffin, cup of papaya bits, 3 small very crisp slices of bacon)
Lunch: Not healthy (Mesican)
Dinner: Healthy (salad)

JLeslie's avatar

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room Interesting that you say healthyish for your breakfast. If I ate that breakfast I would feel like I had to make up for it the rest of the week with zero animal intake. I’m not saying you are wrong, only saying it is unhealthy for me.

Coloma's avatar

Just wait til my bountiful harvest, I will be eating Brandywine tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, yellow tomatoes and squash every which way….today is but a blip on the radar of good eating. lol

livelaughlove21's avatar

@JLeslie That breakfast is about 500 calories, 27g protein, 41g carbs, 27g fat. Might not be healthy for a person eating 1200 calories a day, but for someone eating 2500 a day, it’s pretty healthy. A little more fat than ideal, but I agree that it’s “healthy-ish.” It’s certainly more nutritious than a bowl of coco puffs.

Then again, I don’t get the whole “avoiding animal intake” thing. I’m a meat-eater.

TinyChi's avatar

I had a chicken bacon ranch sub on honey oat. Honey oat is like the best.
I had blue Gatorade with that and later I had water and now I’m drinking wine and stuff.
That’s like all I had today. I didn’t finish the sub because my stomach is acting up or something. I’m saving the rest for breakfast tomorrow though.

JLeslie's avatar

@livelaughlove21 My personal concern is cholesterol, which interestingly you didn’t mention at all in your nutritional count. Possibly you don’t have a cholesterol problem, many people don’t, but I do. Cholesterol and other fats. They just hang out in my bloodstream clogging it up. Sucks. The breakfast in question probably has about 400 mg of cholesterol.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@JLeslie Ah, that’s it. No cholesterol issue here.

ucme's avatar

Food, glorious food…just my little Twist on things :)

JLeslie's avatar

@livelaughlove21 I’m totally jealous. I can’t imagine it.

JLeslie's avatar

@ucme Clever. ...Hot sausage and mustard…

Food is THE best simple pleasure in life, well…if you are not poverty stricken. I’ll kill myself if I ever have to live on Top Ramen. Seriously! Gah!

LornaLove's avatar

Just a cup of instant soup and a piece of toast and now it’s 2am. I am not a very good eater at times.

TinyChi's avatar

@Coloma Cherry tomatoes totally rock! It’s awesome when you bite down on them and they like explode in your mouth! The sour ones are the best.

dxs's avatar

First I had pasta and sauce and then two gobs peanut butter with a glass of milk.
Then I had a bowl of greek yogurt with patriotic sprinkles and part of a cantaloupe and some strawberries.
Then I had half of a pound of 93/7 chuck, a carrot and a potato.
Later I had another bowl of pasta with sauce and meatballs along with some lettuce.
I hope to eat a meal replacement bar sometime soon but it probably won’t happen tonight.
As far as my dieting goes, I’d say today was a miss.

Coloma's avatar

@TinyChi Go for the Sungolds…they are amazing!

AshLeigh's avatar

Skipped breakfast.
Skipped lunch.
Gonna have chicken for dinner soon.
I’m really bad at remembering to bring a lunch to school. :/

livelaughlove21's avatar

I don’t know how so many people skip meals. If I go without, I get a headache, I’m hungry, and I’m grumpy as hell. My husband knows that, if I get super bitchy for no reason, he needs to shut his mouth and get me some food STAT and I’ll be just fine.

I love food. I have a very unhealthy relationship with food that I’m working on changing. I don’t just eat when I’m hungry, I eat when I’m bored, sad, happy, stressed, excited, etc. As annoying skinny people say, I “live to eat” when I should “eat to live.”

tinyfaery's avatar

Cinnamon Life with almond milk
2 cups of coffee
A chocolate cherry KIND bar
A few Triskets and plain hummus.

I have bad eating habits. Today was a ‘hardly eat anything day’.

I’ll have dessert later.

Baja Blast is a Mountain Dew flavor that was originally sold exclusively in Taco Bell restaurants, but there are reports of it being sold in a frozen version in a convenience store (I’m thinking 7–11 or something similar). In Taco Bell, it originally was sold in a regular version but then the frozen version came out, first in limited edition but then in widespread release. There are also recipes on the internet for the “counterfeit version” which is half Mountain Dew and half Blue Gatorade. Baja Blast was formulated specifically to compliment the flavors of Taco Bell food.

To me, it sounds disgusting. I don’t normally like those really sweet drinks.

Breakfast: One egg omelet with one slice Canadian bacon and a sprinkling of cheese, on a low carb tortilla with ¼ avocado mashed.
Lunch: Salad of mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, red bell pepper, avocado, and organic bacon with light balsamic vinaigrette, all organic
Dinner: seared albacore on a bed of mixed greens, sauteed mushrooms on the side.

Snack: fresh organic celery with organic almond butter.

rooeytoo's avatar

Breakfast is my favorite, almost always have blueberries, bananas, chopped almonds, couple of craisins sometimes peaches or berries, whatever is in season, teaspoon of honey, dab of greek yoghurt, and a little soy milk on top. I used to have shreded wheat in there but it kept falling out of my bowl so now I skip the cereal.

Lunch was roast chicken, couscous with sweet potato and green beans in it. Some left over broccoli and cauliflower and a tomato. Pink Lady apple for a snack. (do you have Pink Lady in USA? they are the best!)

Supper was a fried egg on toast and a handful of carrot and celery sticks with hommous. I am still hungry though, I will probably have a mouthful of peanut butter and a glass of skim milk, that should do me for the day.

Hate Blue Gatorade! Makes your mouth blue, your fingers blue and I swear you pee blueish for a day or so as well!

Coloma's avatar

@Inspired_2write A hot dog with coffee? Bleh! lolol

Coloma's avatar

@rooeytoo Yes, Pink Ladies are delicious! I also love the Honey crisp apples.

rooeytoo's avatar

@Coloma – When I first came here and tried Pink Ladies they had not been available in the USA. Are they grown there now or imported? They remind me of cider, it is like eating apple cider!

I haven’t heard of Honey crisp but they sound wonderful. I haven’t seen them here, they must be an American hybrid.
