Why do runners continue to bring up the marathon bombings?

Asked by jugularjenny (20points) August 3rd, 2013

I’m getting sick of hearing about it. The damn bombers were not specifically targeting runners. They were targeting a large crowd of people. It could just as easily have been any sporting event that got bombed. The marathon simply coincided with the plans of the bombers.

There is no need for runners to say things like “These people targeted my sport, I don’t know why, but I’m not gonna let that stop me”

They DID NOT target the sport of running. They targeted a MASSIVE CROWD of people.

Probably because it was scary shit for people who run marathons.

They feel the need to feel extra special, some of them. I don’t know anyone who runs so I’m just going to have to take your word they are saying this. Sounds really stupid non the less.

There are so many larger crowds they could have chosen…..maybe they were jealous because they had dreams of being marathon runners, but that dream was crushed when they accidentally lost a toe while assembling bombs, and their balance was just never the same after that…..

(This thread is probably setting off so many pings with the CIA, FBI, and NSA…..lol)

When a bombing happens, it’s bound to get talked about.

Only if the west is the target.

I imagine if you were one of the runners or spectators or friends or relatives of either who were there when it happened you’d feel differently. Nevertheless, if you’re sick of hearing about it—and by “hearing” about it I assume you mean “reading” about it—just ignore it. I’m sick of hearing, er, reading about Justin Bieber so I just ignore the headlines.

I bet as much as £7.89 there are some who claim they were there on the day, either as a spectator or runner.
Desperately sad attention whores seeking personal gain out of tragic events, remember the woman from 9/11?

@ucme which one? There were quite a few…

@cheebdragon There was this one bitch who set up a fund, claimed she dragged herself out of the rubble & lied through her teeth about the whole thing, they did a documentary about her & the heartache she caused genuine survivors & the victims.

Is that the same one who wasn’t even living in the country on 9/11? Because I remember her and a few others…..
