In footnotes for appendices of a paper, do you restart the numbers for each new appendix?

Restarting footnote numbers in appendices

I believe the answer is yes. A large academic paper or book with numerous appendices attached and each of those with their own footnotes would count as a new unit and would get numbers restarting from 1.
