What is your longest "relationship" to date (see details)?

Asked by ucme (50047points) September 17th, 2013

In terms of customer relationships, brand loyalty if you like.
Bank-Energy supplier-Mobile/cell phone-Internet provider.
Doctor-Dentist-Hairdresser-Gym membership.
Could be anything really, I just put this bit in to pad it out, no one will be reading by now anyway.

Chocolate. I’m not loyal to any particular brand.

As to brand loyalty, I’ve had some type of customer relationship with Bank of America for 28 years, but that’s due to laziness, not appreciation of the supplier ;-)

I’ve invested more money in Este Lauder than I care to think about.

I read all the way to the end of your details, Ucme! And the padding made me think of a 35-year relationship to Kotex products, which I abandoned with glee some years ago.

I have had my bank account at what used to be Great Western Savings since 1986,

I had car insurance with State Farm from 1986 to 2011.

I have had the same account with Pacific Gas and Electric through 7 addresses since 1983,

@picante Ha, you’re thorough, i’ll give you that :)

I’ve been with my bank since my first ever bank account at 16 (8 years ago), and even worked there for 3 years.

I’ve been seeing the same hairdresser for 7 years with no plans to see a new one until my guy stops cutting hair.

Other than my bank and my hairdresser, though, I’m not really a loyal customer to anyone.

I’ve had the same phone number since 1995,18 years, and it’s been through thick and thin with me.

I lost it for about 6 months in 2003. Everyone was devastated. Through persistence and a miracle via SWB, I was eventually able to get it back. Everyone was elated.

In 2006 I had it ported from my landline (which I no longer have) to my cell phone.

Earlier this summer I got a collect call from a guy who has been a friend of my son’s since they were small (They’re 26 now.) He was stuck in Vegas, needed some help. When we got him back I asked why he called me, but I knew the answer already: “Your phone number is the only number I have memorized, and it never changes.” Yeah, with the advent of cell phones people no longer need to have numbers memorized. They just pull up a name and push a button.

AT&T has been my cell company since I bought my first cell phone. I wouldn’t say I’m loyal to them. I’m just too lazy to switch. Personally I think Verizon has much better coverage.

Frank Sinatra. I’ve been a fan of his music since I was a young lad.

Oh my….well, aside from my phone service AT&T, I’d have to say a local ranch and pet supply store in my area. I have been going to them for 22 years this month. Now I only go there for cat food, after moving from my property last spring. No more goose feed, chicken feed, brooder lamps, pine shavings, oat hay, medications, feeders, waterers, snow shovels, rakes, and farmey supplies for me. The end of an era. :-(

Florida Power and Light. We were lovingly paired since 1964. In the begining, he was nice, but as I became increasingly dependent on him he became abusive, and eventually started to beat me. I had absolutely no choice but to stay with him if I wanted modern conveniences. And then one day he left me, and I met Duke. He beats me, too, but he’s reliable and I keep the lights burning for him at night.

Same bank account since I moved out of my mom’s house at age 17, I’m 40 now.

Probably my relationship with Victoria’s Secret. I’ve shopped there for my favorite undergarments since I was about 17. I occasionally have a wild affair with Hanes underwear or Bali bras, but I always go back to Victoria.

^^ Damn. I forgot that. I’ve had a steady relationship with the Marlboro Man for 22 years now.

AT&T has been providing my phone service for almost 40 years.

I have been with the same bank for 26 years. I have been with the same phone provider for the same amount of time but thats because where I live I have a choice of one.

I am 45 years old

Hellmann’s mayo (since childhood)
Coca-cola (since the age of 2)
Sprint cell phone service (15 years)
Lancome Mascara (24 years)
Revlon and Loreal nailpolish (30 years)
Lipton’s tea when I buy tea (since childhood)
Kraft cheeses (my whole life)
Goya canned black beans (25 years)
Uncle Bens rice (my entire life)
Maggi Spaetzle (as long as I can remember)
Mueller’s and Barilla dry pasta (Muellers my entire life, Barilla the last 8 years)

There’s more. I am very brand loyal, especially with food.

picante's avatar

Gosh, I didn’t even think about food. There are so many . . . French’s mustard and Heinz ketchup come to mind immediately. Each is a 55-year loyalty. Too many to list here.

livelaughlove21's avatar

I wasn’t thinking about food, either. I’m a coke drinker, too, but I doubt I was allowed to drink soda at 2.

I thought of another one – Clinique foundation, concealer, and powder for about 9 years.

My husband has had the same cell phone service since they were “car phones.” He was one of the first to have one in our community.
It has changed hands several times and is now owned by AT&T.

Cheers folks, good stuff.
I think out of everything my longest relationship must be with my football team, supported them since I was nine, man & boy…bound for a life sentence no doubt.

Ben & Jerry’s and I have been intimate since we first met in the ‘80s.

I have been using BufPuf scrubs since the early ‘80s.

My Gynecologist’s practice has a chart on me dating back to 1985.

I am loyal to Stonyfield Farms yogurt since the ‘90s, and Skim Plus milk (although now I only use their Fat Free Half’n’half since it doesn’t contain any sweeteners or bovine hormones).

I grew up drinking Ovaltine/Ovomaltine chocolate malted milk, and I always have some on hand. The same goes for Nutella.

Katniss's avatar

@hearkat I’m pretty intimate with Phish Food. lol

Honda. My wife and I drove four Hondas over eighteen years until…

this year: I chose a Hyundai.
I’m slowly moving up the alphabet

hearkat's avatar

@cookieman: I almost put Volkswagen, since most of my family has owned them since 1986, but I took a break after my third VW over 20 years then came back after 4 years, so it hasn’t been a continuous relationship for me.

My vet-35 years. Too bad my pets can’t say the same thing. I miss them all. (Scratch, Hobo, Tigger, Pockets, Pooh, and little Roo; I love you all.)

The longest continual thing would be NPR, I think, because my parents have always listened to it. Can’t think of any other product I would have partaken of in infancy that I still do now and have in all intervening years. Oh, I got it: the US government, for some of the bonds my family bought me when I was born that haven’t matured yet.

This Friday my wife and I are married 25 years.

Pooh54's avatar

Congrats again. Do something special for yourselves.
