Why is Maryland leaving the ACC for the Big 10?

Asked by srmorgan (6738points) February 24th, 2014

I don’t understand the move.
ACC is more prestigious and it does not make sense geographically.

Money. Big 10 makes more money in TV and other areas, and Maryland wants some of it.

ACC is only the eastern seaboard, and not even all that much of it.

Big 10 has a much larger geographical area. More TV viewers == more $$
